Bengaluru-based quantum computing startup QpiAI has raised $32 million in a Series A funding round, co-led by the Indian government and Avataar Ventures. The funding values the company at $162 million and is part of the government’s $750 million National Quantum Mission, launched in 2023 to advance quantum technology in India.
QpiAI is one of just eight startups selected under the mission to receive initial grants. The company recently built India’s first full-stack quantum computer, QpiAI-Indus, which features 25 superconducting qubits which is a key milestone in the country’s deep-tech journey. Founded in 2019, QpiAI is developing a platform that combines quantum computing with artificial intelligence, targeting real-world applications in sectors like manufacturing, pharma, and finance. The fresh capital will help QpiAI scale its quantum hardware, software stack, and commercial partnerships, positioning it as a key player in India’s growing quantum ecosystem. This marks a big step forward not just for QpiAI, but also for India’s ambitions in becoming a global force in next-gen computing technologies.
