Google’s latest update brings a notable shift in mobile interoperability Pixel 10 users can now share files directly with iPhones using a newly enabled Quick Share–AirDrop compatibility. The feature allows Pixel 10 devices to appear in an iPhone’s AirDrop menu, enabling fast, peer-to-peer transfers without relying on servers or generating logs preserving user privacy.
To initiate sharing, Pixel 10 owners simply use Quick Share from the standard sharing menu. On the iPhone side, users must set AirDrop visibility to “Everyone for 10 Minutes,” making the device discoverable. Once enabled, iPhones can detect Pixel devices and exchange files in the same seamless manner typically reserved for Apple-to-Apple transfers.
This development is currently exclusive to the Pixel 10 series and represents one of Google’s most significant moves toward bridging the long-standing gap between Android and iOS ecosystems. Historically, AirDrop worked only within Apple’s hardware lineup, while Quick Share was confined to Android devices. Cross-platform sharing often required cloud uploads, messaging apps, or email, adding friction to simple file transfers.
The new interoperability eliminates those barriers, offering a more streamlined method for users operating across platforms. While limited to Pixel 10 models at launch, the feature signals a broader industry push toward reducing ecosystem silos and improving user convenience across devices.
