Chennai-based spacetech startup Agnikul Cosmos has raised ₹150 crore ($17 million) in a new funding round, valuing the company at $500 million. The round saw participation from a mix of family offices and notable institutional investors, including Advenza Global Limited, Atharva Green Ecotech LLP, HDFC Bank, Artha Select Fund, Prathithi Ventures, and 100X.VC.
Agnikul, known for developing the world’s first single-piece 3D-printed rocket engine, said the fresh funds will be used to scale production capabilities and accelerate work on its rocket component manufacturing lines. The company also plans to advance its stage-recovery systems which is an important step toward making future launches more cost-efficient.
A significant part of the investment will support the development of Agnikul’s upcoming integrated space campus in Tamil Nadu. The state government has allocated 350 acres for this facility, which will house end-to-end infrastructure for building, assembling, and testing launch vehicle systems.
The new campus is expected to strengthen India’s domestic space manufacturing ecosystem at a time when private participation in space is rapidly expanding. Agnikul, which earlier conducted India’s first controlled flight of a privately built rocket stage, aims to provide flexible and affordable launch solutions to global small-satellite customers.
