Google is bringing its enhanced Gemini AI assistant to Google TV, introducing voice-powered controls, creative editing tools, and immersive learning features designed to make televisions more interactive and intelligent. Announced at CES 2026, the update marks a step toward transforming Google TV into a personalized information hub.
The most practical addition lets users adjust TV settings using natural speech. Commands like “make it brighter” or “turn up the dialogue” prompt Gemini to automatically fine-tune brightness, sound, or subtitles—no manual navigation required. The rollout begins with select TCL models running Android TV OS 14, with broader availability planned in the coming months.
Beyond system control, Google has integrated Gemini with Google Photos, offering new ways to create and edit media directly on the TV. Users can generate artistic edits using Google’s Nano Banana image model or craft short clips with Veo, the company’s video generation model. Uploading photos via QR codes enables AI-assisted editing and the creation of cinematic slideshows.
Gemini’s “visually rich framework” also enhances information delivery. Users searching for topics or news get AI-curated summaries supported by visuals, video context, and real-time data such as sports scores. A “Dive deeper” option provides narrated, interactive overviews for families or students exploring new subjects, accompanied by relevant YouTube content.
TCL’s new X11 series, starting at $6,999, will debut the full suite of Gemini-driven features. The update builds on Google’s earlier introduction of Gemini across select devices in late 2025, underscoring the company’s ongoing effort to blend AI, entertainment, and seamless household interaction.
