WhatsApp will launch usernames in 2026, letting users replace phone numbers for in-app communication. Businesses will still show phone numbers but get a unique Business-Scoped User ID (BSUID) to identify users. BSUIDs enable messaging without phone numbers and affect API requests, responses, and webhooks, ensuring unique IDs for each business portfolio-user pair.
