India’s DoT has mandated mobile manufacturers and importers to pre-install the Sanchar Saathi app on all devices sold in India, ensuring it remains active and non-removable. The app verifies handset authenticity via IMEI and enables reporting of theft, fraud, or spam. Brands have 90 days to comply. This measure aims to curb counterfeit devices and enhance telecom security nationwide.
