LG Electronics’ new ₹5,000 crore manufacturing facility in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh, is making rapid strides just seven months after breaking ground. State IT and Electronics Minister Nara Lokesh highlighted the project’s progress, calling it a benchmark for Andhra Pradesh’s “Speed of Doing Business.” The land for the plant was handed over in May 2025, and construction has advanced swiftly since then.
The 247-acre greenfield project marks LG’s third manufacturing hub in India, joining existing facilities in Greater Noida and Pune. Designed as a world-class production base, it will manufacture refrigerators, air conditioners, washing machines, and related components. Once fully operational, the plant is expected to roll out 800,000 refrigerators, 850,000 washing machines, 1.5 million air conditioners, and up to 2 million compressors annually.
Commercial production is scheduled to begin by late 2026, followed by phased expansion through 2029. The project is expected to generate around 1,495 direct jobs and nearly 10,000 indirect employment opportunities, bolstering the region’s industrial ecosystem. The Andhra Pradesh government has played a key role in expediting the initiative through eased clearances and investor support.
Adding to the local impact, four LG suppliers are investing ₹839 crore in adjacent facilities within Sri City, marking their first foray into India. This supply chain integration underscores LG’s strategy to localize production and strengthen its manufacturing competitiveness. Lokesh lauded the project as a milestone in the state’s industrial transformation, reinforcing Andhra Pradesh’s position as an emerging hub for high-value electronics manufacturing.
